National Women of Achievement, Incorporated – Cy-Fair Chapter
National Women of Achievement. Inc. (NWOA) is a professional 501©3. non-profit organization dedicated to community service. The heart of our work is encouraging youth and young adult leadership and service, honoring the status of women, political awareness, assault on illiteracy, and service to the elderly.
Membership provides an extensive wealth of resources enabling our members to receive personal and career success. The friendship, sisterhood, and support of the organization is truly a lifetime experience. Through our wide reaching network, members discover various opportunities to connect, grow, learn and inspire.
National Women of Achievement, Inc. was founded in 1975 by a grand and noble woman, Dr. Maudest Walls Stewart. of Houston, Texas. She had a long time dream of a legacy for women to make outstanding contributions to the welfare of one another, our youth, and our country.
The Cy-Fair Chapter was chartered on May 12, 2009. Achiever Rebecca Porter (National President 20007 – 2011) asked Ms. Anne Harris to consider starting a chapter. Ms. Harris asked some of her friends to join her in starting a chapter and the Cy-Fair Chapter was born. A group of eleven (11) distinguished and respected ladies responded to her invitation and became the charter members of the Cy-Fair Chapter.
The chapter has now expanded to include groups for Youth and Junior Achievers. Through these two groups, young people are trained, supported, and encouraged in leadership development, social skills, community service, and scholarship.
Members are the power behind the success of the Cy-Fair Chapter. Each member selflessly gives of her time, talent, and treasure to serve individuals and the community. The Chapter continues to strive for Excellence and Promotion of Achievement through our ongoing projects, fulfilling our national thrusts. Our goal is to keep the thrusts alive through new and creative activities as we add new members.
We invite women of character who believe in our mission and values to grow with us in the Cy-Fair Chapter.
